Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment
The Full Assessment Process
Initial contact:
After initial contact, a date will be agreed to conduct the assessment. You will receive an email with terms and conditions and deposit details in order to secure the session. The remaining balance will need to be paid one week prior to the assessment date.

Step 1:
Following payment of the deposit, you will receive a parental questionnaire, a school questionnaire and one for your child to complete. This is an essential part of gathering full background information on all relevant aspects of your child's health, well-being and learning. You will be advised to have your child's eyesight checked, unless this has been done within the last 6 months. A hearing check may also be required if there are any concerns.

Step 2:
Once the questionnaires and any ear and eye checks are complete, the assessment then takes place on the agreed date. This usually begins in the morning and is completed early afternoon with a break for lunch. Parents usually stay for a short time until their child settles and is happy to be left. The timings and arrangements are flexible and are planned around your child's needs.

Step 4:
I will then interpret the tests and write the diagnostic report. You will receive it within 2 weeks of the test date, but in practice it is often sooner.

Step 5:
A final consultation is offered either in-person or via video call where I run through the report with you. This ensures you understand the results of the assessment, your child's cognitive profile and the recommendations which are personalised specifically for them. This will include a comprehensive range of suggestions for adjustments school can put in place as well as suggestions for home. This finalises the assessment process.

Full details are provided prior to the assessment.

I am always very happy to hear how my assessments benefit the children I work with and the difference it makes to their lives and enjoyment of learning, no matter how long after assessment that may be.

Dyslexia Screening
I offer Dyslexia Screening to determine whether dyslexia is likely. This does not diagnose dyslexia, but can help parents when deciding whether to book a full Diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia. Younger learners who are not yet old enough for a full assessment can also be screened and the results used to plan interventions. The screening test is quick and is designed for specialist assessors ensuring accuracy.
