If your child is struggling with reading, writing, spelling or broader areas of learning such as memory, sequencing or processing, you may be considering a full diagnostic assessment to identify dyslexia.
To help you with making this often difficult decision, the information below aims to answer any questions you may have and hopefully provide some reassurance.

Why should my child have an assessment?
If your child is experiencing ongoing significant difficulties in their learning or in everyday life, then you will probably want to find out more about why this is, particularly as this can cause feelings of frustration, failure and loss of confidence. An assessment provides a clear picture about your child's cognitive profile, and their particular challenges as well as strengths. This ensures support addresses these specific challenges, makes use of strengths and is therefore the most effective it can be.

Where appropriate, the report can be used to apply for JCQ Exam Access Arrangements at secondary school or for funded support known as the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) at higher education.

Assessment with Dyslexia Evaluations starts at 8 years of age to ensure compliance with SASC (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee) the governing body for specialist assessors.

Which assessments do you offer?
I offer a full diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia which takes place in-person within a calming homely environment. It is also possible for this to take place at the child's own home provided certain requirements can be met. I am located on the East Cambridgeshire/West Suffolk border and cover any area within a reasonable travel distance. Please feel free to ask.

If you require more information to help you decide whether a dyslexia assessment is needed, I also offer a Dyslexia Screening Test specifically designed for specialist assessors who are best placed to accurately interpret the results.
